The Centre for Academic Success offers specialist support for students who use Welsh in the course of their academic lives. This provision is tailored towards the Welsh context, with attention given to the particular needs of Welsh medium students, including bilingual practices, relevant technology and software, as well as the skills common to students of all languages – critical thinking, composing arguments, referencing and paraphrasing, and writing and research skills.
What does the Centre for Academic Success offer?
A lively and varied program of Welsh medium e-learning courses and resources, and face to face courses and workshops. These are available to students studying some or all of their courses through the medium of Welsh, and those interested in developing their Welsh language skills. Sessions run throughout the academic year online and in person in order to support you in developing the academic skills required for you to succeed – whatever your subject or level of study. In addition to the core program, we also offer courses periodically as part of our writing and skills week events. Alongside these workshops, we offer 1:1 appointments online/face to face with a Welsh language CAS tutor for you to discuss specific questions relating to your work. You can book up to one appointment per week through our online booking system.
