A small number of our students will have received award decisions that have unfortunately been affected by the Marking and Assessment Boycott. The University has implemented a set of Exceptional Assessment Regulations to ensure that academic standards are maintained and the impact on students is limited as far as possible. For those students affected, your Faculty will have contacted you regarding the impact. We know that this is an unsettling and difficult situation for our students, and we wanted to provide some further advice, context and support about what these decisions mean, what the next steps are, and how the University and the Students’ Union can help you.

The categories below explain in more detail what each decision means at this stage.

If you have received;

Undergraduate Awards

Postgraduate Taught Awards

Postgraduate Research Awards

All of the above decisions mean that some of your marks are missing from your profile*, the number of missing marks and/or because your programme is accredited by a professional body means that for some students, we have regretfully not been able to offer a classification or an award outcome at this stage.

*Marks that are FV/PV are missing marks that have been replaced by a derived mark at this time.

What Happens Next?

Your final award decision will be confirmed once all of your marks have been received and these have been considered and ratified at an award board. Due to the ongoing nature of the boycott, it is difficult to give exact timelines for award confirmation, please be reassured that we will do our best to confirm awards for students as soon as feasibly possible.

Further information is available via our FAQs. We would also like to invite you to contact us if you have any questions or concerns at student-ia@swansea.ac.uk and we will do our best to help you.

The University appreciates that this is a difficult and unsettling position to be in, however, we would still like to take this opportunity to congratulate you on completing your programme of study and commend you on the hard work and commitment of the past few years. Please be reassured that we will be working to support you and ensure your award outcome is fully confirmed as soon as possible.

We will continue to communicate with you via your student email addresses which will remain accessible for final-year students.
