Your Starting Point

As a Science and Engineering student, you've embarked on a journey with us. We'll aim to provide you with the tools to move successfully through your programme, often pointing you to additional resources and support when needed.

Your Role

brain,

We'll do our best to create an engaging learning environment for you to develop the knowledge and skills you need for the future. But we cannot do it without your ideas and comments.

Offer us Direction

Direction

Whilst we offer you direction, your feedback can help create alternative routes that we might not have considered, leading to positive changes and enhancements across the University.

In Science and Engineering, your feedback has led to...

  • Improvements to study spaces: The BASE (A006) has undergone refurbishment, based on your suggestions for increased faciltiies for collaboration and groupwork.
  • Changes to programme structure: In many programmes, new 20 credit modules have been introduced - giving you more opportunities to bring together information and ideas from different topics.
  • Improvements to assessment: Many programmes have also increased the opportunities to engage in practical work, ensuring you have the opportunity to demonstrate your learning as you go.
  • Continuation of key Academic Support: due to positive feedback, we're continuing to offer a variety of Academic Support this year, including the Computer Aided Engineering Café, Maths Café, and workshops on key areas such as MSc Dissertation support.

For examples of changes made across the University, you can refer to the central Together We Changed page.

Make your Voice Heard

Remember, we want to ensure all students are given the chance to raise feedback. To make sure your voice is heard, we check out our top tips for effective feedback.

Be Timely

Materials Testing

Raise any issues or comments as they arise - this allows us staff to investigate and work with you and test out solutions that will strengthen your experience.

Provide Detail

Feedback loop

When you raise feedback, try to provide as much detail as you're able. This helps us to direct the feedback and deal with it efficiently. If we need to know more, we might come back to you with questions to gain further insight so that we can work together on an appropriate solution.

Offer Solutions

Hazard sign

Feedback should be solution focused, we want to hear when there's an issue, but we also want to hear how you'd fix it. Remember, solutions should be balanced, offering an enhancement to the experience for everyone.

Other ways to feedback

There are lots of ways to offer feedback on all areas of your experience. Check out other ways to get involved below.
