This course is intended to introduce you to Artificial Intelligence as an emergent technology and how it can be used to enhance your academic studies effectively and legitimately. We’ll examine how AI can be positively integrated with agency into your study processes, specifically focusing on how the technology can boost your reading and writing skills. We’ll also explore potential pitfalls and problems regarding the ethical use of AI, especially with relation to academic integrity.

Syllabus

SESSION 1: AI and Academic Studies - Introduction

In this introductory session, we will explore themes related to Artificial Intelligence.

SESSION 2: AI and Reading / Research Skills

In this session, we will explore how LLMs such as ChatGPT can be used to boost reading and research skills.

SESSION 3: AI and Academic Writing Skills

In this session, we ask how LLMs such as Chat GPT can best be employed to enhance writing skills and processes.

SESSION 4: AI’s Implications for Unfair Practice

In this session, we will examine some of the potential ethical challenges of integrating AI into academic study.
