This course is best suited for students whose first language is not English. You will learn ways to improve your reading in English, using academic and news text sources. This course will introduce you to different strategies to improve your vocabulary and reading comprehension.
Syllabus
This course is made up of the following one hour sessions:
SESSION ONE: Reliable sources
This will cover how to evaluate the legitimacy of web sources and information using materials prepared for the classroom.

SESSION TWO: Pre-reading
This will cover how to utilise a variety of pre-reading techniques to aid in greater reading comprehension through materials prepared for the class.

SESSION THREE: Annotating
This will cover how to annotate a text using materials prepared for the class.

SESSION FOUR: Skim and Scan
This will cover how to both skim and scan reading materials to find information using materials prepared for the class.

This will cover how to utilise a variety of post-reading techniques to aid in greater reading comprehension.
