Where to find and how to use our Laptop Lockers

Our laptop lockers are located in our Singleton and Bay Campus libraries.

Please read the Terms and Conditions carefully and follow the instructions below for borrowing and returning the laptops.

Terms and Conditions

The following Terms and Conditions apply when using this service:

All laptops borrowed must be returned to the lending location, along with the accompanying charger, in good condition, by the building closing time on the due date.
You may only borrow 1 laptop at a time, for personal use only.
Lost or damaged item charges will be incurred and will include the full cost of replacement or repair.
Overdue charges apply (£10 per item per day up to a maximum of £100)

Laptop Locker User Guide

You must login to the laptop using your university login credentials.
You must login to the laptop once on campus or ensure that the laptop is connected to the internet prior to trying to login from home.
Once logged in, the laptop should automatically connect to your university OneDrive allowing you to keep your files synced with other university computers and have standard Microsoft office programs available (Word, PowerPoint etc.).
You cannot install software on these laptops, if you need to access any university software then you can remotely access an on-campus PC, instructions for this can be found here

Borrowing a Laptop

1. Select ‘Borrow’ from the touch screen of the Locker
2. Scan your student card on the panel located to the left hand side below the touch screen (identified inside the red box in the picture to the right of these instructions).
3. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions (displayed above these borrowing instructions) – a laptop cannot be borrowed without accepting the T&Cs.
4. The screen will then display the locker that you have been assigned. The locker will flash to identify the locker the laptop can be borrowed from.

5. Scan your student card on the relevant card reader on the row where the light flashes. This will release the door.
6. Once the door is open, disconnect the power cable from the laptop in the locker.
7. Then remove all contents (the laptop and the charger not connected to the locker) and close the locker door.
Note: you must login to the laptop on campus first or connect to the internet prior to logging in at home.

Returning a Laptop

Select ‘Return’ from the touch screen of the Locker.
2. Scan your student card on the panel below the touch screen (identified inside the red box in the picture to the right of these instructions).
3. The locker you need to return the laptop to will be displayed on the screen and will flash.
4. Open the door and place the laptop and charger in the locker.

Please note: Any unreturned power cables will result in a £30 fine added to your library account.

Important! To keep your account secure, please ensure that you have logged out of your account and shut down the laptop completely before returning it. Also please ensure that you connect the laptop to the power connection built into the locker or it will not be removed from your account.
