Undergraduate Tuition Fees

The Welsh Government recently increased the tuition fee cap in Wales from £9000 to £9250, now aligning fees with those in other UK nations. 

Starting September 2024, your tuition fees at Swansea University will be adjusted to £9250  bringing us in line with universities across the UK.

This decision is a response to sustained inflationary pressures that have impacted universities across the UK. Tuition fee levels in Wales have remained unchanged for over a decade, whilst the expenses associated with maintaining quality education and campus facilities have continued to grow.

Our commitment to providing an exceptional teaching and learning environment remains unwavering. Therefore, we have made this decision to ensure that we can continue delivering and resourcing the high-quality education and student experience that we pride ourselves on.

Tuition fees play a vital role in sustaining an excellent academic environment and quality learning and teaching, the provision of facilities such as our Libraries and specialist laboratories, and world-class equipment and software. They are instrumental in funding improvements to our campuses and they also ensure we can deliver invaluable student support services.

Your full time Tuition fees in 24/25 will be £9250 a year but may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government. If you are studying for your first degree you will not have to pay the tuition fees upfront, as a Welsh student you will be eligible for:

• A repayable tuition fee loan of £9250

• Year in Industry = £1850
• Year Abroad = £1385

If you started in 21/22 you will continue to receive the EU Transitional bursary to reduce your international Tuition Fee costs to equal the UK rate of £9250

If you started pre 21/22, your full time Tuition fees in 24/25 will be £9250 a year but may be increased in subsequent years of study by an inflationary amount determined by Welsh Government. If you are studying for your first degree you will not have to pay the tuition fees upfront, as a Welsh student you will be eligible for:

• A repayable tuition fee loan of £9250

If you are sponsored by an external organisation such as a Charity, Employer or Overseas Government/Agency please ensure that your full funding details are scanned to studentfinance@swansea.ac.uk prior to your enrolment.

If you do not have an official letter from your organisation please arrange with your sponsor to complete a Confirmation of Sponsorship / Cadarnhad Nawdd form.

If you withdraw from your program early (or suspend your studies) you may be eligible for a refund.
