BECOME A LEARNING DEMONSTRATOR

Being a Learning Demonstrator is your chance to gain some valuable experience whilst earning earn some extra money. Not only that, it looks great on your CV!

The use of postgraduate students for assisting in teaching undergraduate modules has long been a feature of the University. It is a challenging and rewarding role for postgraduates to gain experience in fields other than their research activities, ideal for continued professional development. Research Councils and other studentship awarding bodies recognise the need for students to participate in such activities.

The main purpose of the role is to assist academic staff/the module leader to introduce or expand understanding of a specific area for undergraduate students. Teaching Assistants also provide assistance to academic staff in their routine teaching duties.

Full guidance, mentorship and monitoring will be provided by an appropriate member of academic staff, typically the module leader.

If you are a  Learning Demonstrator in Semester 1, you are kept on the list of Learning Demonstrators for Semester 2. If you will no longer be available to work, make sure you advise PGR-scienceengineering@swansea.ac.uk as soon as you know your availability – otherwise you will be allocated to modules.
