What is Curriculum Transformation and why is it happening?
Curriculum Transformation is a process where the University reviews and updates its courses to make sure they stay relevant, effective, and valuable. The goal is to provide the best possible learning experience and ensure that what you study reflects the latest industry trends and skills employers are looking for.
This helps to:
- Keep courses aligned with the latest developments in the sector.
- Improve the way courses are taught and assessed.
- Make sure students graduate with the skills needed to succeed in their careers.
- Respond to student feedback and improve the overall learning experience.
The new curriculum framework establishes clear design standards that will ensure consistency and quality across all programmes. It will also incorporate key graduate attributes essential for our students’ success in modern workplaces and the wider world. Transforming our curricula in accordance with this framework will ensure that Swansea University remains at the forefront of educational excellence, benefiting both our students and staff in profound ways.
How will Curriculum Transformation affect me?
Swansea University is introducing a new credit structure in line with the sector to make things more straightforward and improve your experience:
- 120 credits at Level 3
- 80 credits at Level 4
- 40 credits at Levels 5 and 6
This will mean:
- A stronger sense of community – You’ll study with the same group of students more often, helping you build connections.
- Fewer timetable clashes – We’re improving the scheduling to make things run more smoothly.
- Better learning progression – The structure will make it easier to follow the course and build on what you’ve learned.
