What is a Student Rep?

The Student Rep system (Education Zone) is a partnership between the Students’ Union and University.

Every year, over 400 Student Reps are elected to work closely with the Students’ Union Education Officer to ensure that students interests, voices and opinions are represented across the University.

It is a Rep’s job to listen, collate and communicate the views of the students in their cohorts. Reps work with the University to take active ownership of the learning experience, provide constructive feedback and help make a different to how their courses and departments are run. This enables students to take a more active role in their learning experience and makes sure Swansea University continues to be an amazing place to study.

Reps can also participate in campaigns run by the Students’ Union Education Officer or run their own campaign to make a positive impact on their School and University.

What are the benefits of being a Rep?

Being a Rep is a fantastic way to make new friends and gain new skills. But don’t just take our word for it! Here are what some of our past Reps had to say:

“I loved being a Rep. I made new friends and my confidence grew.”

“Being a Rep was one of the best things I did at University. I feel like I made a real difference.”

“I learnt so much during my time as a Rep. I know I will use the skills I gained throughout my career.”
