Coronavirus Recovery: advice and latest information

Having an action planning can help you put steps in place to make your goals reality.

Career action planning is a process that helps you to focus your ideas and decide what steps to take in order to achieve your career goal

A clear action plan helps you balance your academic studies and develop your employability

How to create a Career Action Plan

  • Think about your current situation and where you would like to be
  • You could complete a SWOT (strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats)
  • Set yourself a clear and manageable objective or goal (think SMART):-
    • Specific
    • Measurable
    • Achievable
    • Realistic
    • Time-bound

How to Develop a Plan

Break down your goal or objective into smaller manageable tasks and then list the actions that will help you achieve it! Writing down your actions and telling other people will enhance your commitment. Set yourself timescales and reward yourself when tasks are completed, this may help motivate you.

Be pro-active and start now, try not to leave creating your action plan until the end of your final year. Starting earlier will give you more opportunity to explore your options.

Review your plan and reflect on your progress. It is important to think about what barriers you may face, how you will overcome these and what resources will you need in order to assist you.
