I have retired from full time work in Adult and Community Education where I taught and co-ordinated ESOL classes for many years, in London. I returned to learning to do an MSc about 10 years ago and now I'm in the third year of my PhD. I moved to Wales 5 years ago and remain involved with local and London based activist groups concerned with anti-racism and the rights and welfare of refugees. I love walking and messaging around with creative activities.
BEING A SUBJECT REPRESENTATIVE
I am keen to get more involved in the department and university after a long period when I was unable to travel to campus much.
I am yet to discover what some of these responsibilities might be but I hope overall to be a able to represent Geography PGR students and take forward any concerns they may have in order to make their study and research experience the most positive possible.
MY CURRENT STUDIES...
I am enjoying returning to study after finishing full time work. My area of study is around practices of welcome for refugees and asylum seekers in rural Wales.
