Welcome to the School of Culture and Communication

We look forward to meeting you at Welcome Week. There will be a varied program of events during the week and we hope this will provide you with plenty of information and inspiration as you begin your programme of study. There will also be opportunities to socialise with the other students on your course and learn about the support that will be available to you as you study.

Welcome and Induction Week for the School will run from Monday 22ndd to Friday 26th January 2024. The information you'll receive is really important to your academic year ahead, please make every effort to attend

We’re working on your Welcome Week timetable, and it’ll be updated here soon. Please note that this is different to your teaching timetable which will be in place when the lectures start on Monday 29th January.

 

Friday 26th January

Programme Induction Day, Communication, Media Practice and Public Relations: 10am-4pm

 

 

First Steps: 10am-11am, Digital Technium Room 107

Meet your Student Information Team, who will introduce the key IT platforms and systems you’ll need for your studies, outline the academic and welfare support available, and explain further ways to get involved in student life. 

This will be followed by a short coffee break. 

 

 

Programme Welcome Talk, 11am-12pm, Digital Technium Room 107

Meet your programme director, who will introduce your programme of study, provide key academic information and direct you to course resources

 

 

Buffet Lunch, 12pm-1pm, Digital Technium Student Study Space (Ground Floor)

Get to know your coursemates while enjoying a light lunch.

Vegetarian and vegan options will be available. If you have any allergies or additional dietary requirements please email community-cultureandcom@swansea.ac.uk by 15th January 2023 to let us know.

 

 

Academic Writing Workshop, 1pm-4pm, Union House Room 303

Hone your academic writing skills at a writing workshop, delivered by the Centre for Academic Success and the Subject Librarian team.
