If you already have a Tier 4/Student Route visa to cover you for the entirety of your course, then you should just be able to use this same visa to come to the UK- even if you are delayed and arrive after the start of term. You will not need to take any action except for staying in touch with the University about your proposed arrival date and to verify any relevant arrival dates that may apply to you. If you have a visa but have not yet used it to travel to the UK, you should check that your travel vignette (sticker in your passport) is still valid. If the end date has passed you will have to apply for a new vignette and there is information about that in the What to do if your travel vignette has run out section towards the bottom of this page.
If you are a student who does not have enough time on their visa to complete their course, you should make a visa application for the correct length visa before you travel to the UK. Due to current UKVI delays (which are expected to last for the rest of 2022), you should make this application 8-12 weeks before your proposed travel date using the University’s Applying for a Student Route visa from overseas guidance.
If you wish to apply for the Graduate Route, have not yet been to the UK and are completing your course within the next 12 months, you should make sure you are in the UK by 30th June 2022. See the Graduate Route page for further information about eligibility and the UK study requirement.
